The doctors at Orlando Foot and Ankle Clinic continue to stay on top of cutting edge technology. Last week, OFAC reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Christopher Reeves, implanted the first S.T.A.R. total ankle joint replacement implant in Central Florida. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved SBi's Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement (STAR™ Ankle) system to treat U.S. patients. It is a safe, proven alternative to failed conservative treatment.  Dr. Reeves, is trained in three types of ankle replacement systems in order to provide his patients with the latest in reconstructive options.  However, the S.T.A.R. is the only three piece mobile bearing non constrained, uncemented total ankle replacement system currently on the market.  Total ankle joint replacements are indicated in the painful arthritic ankle joint due to post traumatic arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
